God’s divine direction a product of keen reflection

Receiving God’s direction to work this year. If there is anything very necessary and imminent in your life, it is nothing but to work according to the will of God. The Bible made it clear, there is a way that seems right in the eyes of man, but end of it is destruction.
This year, no doubt, some might have started with the direction, some on the leadership of multitude, a lot are following bandwagon direction, some on the admonitions of your close associates. But important questions still remains: Have you received God’s direction to work this year? Where are you actually working to? For us to work well, we must receive God’s direction.
Two great personalities in the old and new testaments should guide us through. Abraham, the father of faith in the old testament, and Apostle Paul in the new testament. Abraham had wanted to go opposite the direction of God who works in a mysterious way. He recalled him out of his father’s house, directed him rightly and assured him of great future—only if he could obey Him. There are quite numerous blessings that follow the call if you follow God’s direction.
As we are in this world, two things are facing us. Firstly, we are on a race. Secondly, we are on a walk. We are indeed pilgrims in this world, walking to somewhere, as well as runners on a race. In Genesis chapter 12 vs 2-3, God outlined seven blessings for Abraham. One, I will make you a great nation. Secondly, I will bless you, I will make your name great, you shall be a blessing, I will bless them who bless you, I will curse him who curses you, and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.

These seven blessings were offered to Abraham only if he could follow God. And he responded without hesitation, he departed as the LORD had spoken unto him. He was then 75 years when this journey started. For a divine direction of this magnitude to take place, three things must be in place. They must serve as guide. Abraham heard the voice of God and immediately identified the impact, and divine guidance happened. In John 10 vs 27, it was stated clearly, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” Certainly, if you follow God, he will know you. Samuel is another servant of God who knew the direction of his calling. It happened during his time with ELI, the Sanctuary Keeper.
Secondly, we must endeavor to be guided by His Word; this is why regular reading of the Bible is very necessary, at least five chapters in a day. The essence of reading the word is for proper guidance and direction, because it has power to purify the soul, converting it to real direction God wants. The word of God plays vital role, moving you from where you are before to new graceful position.
In Hebrews chapter 4 vs 12 thus, “For the Word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” The same Bible said that heaven and earth can pass away, but the Word of God cannot; it endures forever.
Every soul can only be converted by the Word of God. It gives you victory over your enemy, with the word eternal victory is assured, you will excel forever. The Word of God is perfect; it can reverse your soul to follow God’s instruction, the testimony of God is sure making the simple wise, the word of Lord are right rejoicing the heart, it is pure enlighting your eyes. Good things that lead to heaven only come from knowing the Word of God, because it is pure. Psalm 119 vs 7 and 11 thus, “I will praise you with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned your righteous judgement… your word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
What qualifies you to stand before God? What makes you holy in His presence? It is simply the sanctification of Word of God, it cleanse and wash away your iniquity so that you can stand before Him. Therefore, the Word of God has to be part of your life, it separates you from the crowd that hardly honour God.
In Ephesians 1 vs 18 the message is clear: “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that is the present result that they are in a state of illumination, that you may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.” In Psalm 19 vs 7 and 8.
Thus, “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul, the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statues of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.” And if the word of God makes you clean everyday, definitely He will be your friend.
Do you know that judgement is equally the word of God. On the last day, the word that will be opened before you, certainly judge your behaviour on earth. That’s why what is written in John 12 vs 48 is very important: “He who rejects me, and receives not my words, has one who judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” The word of God is settled in heaven.
Sadly, our attitude before the word of God has fallen below expectation, but here is an opportunity for you to rise up and embrace the word. And as you begin to read it everyday, it will not only sharpen your knowledge but remove every distraction in your life and purify your soul. The judgement of God is right, and anybody without the word cannot escape it. Word of God is true and factual as written in John 17 vs 17, “Father sanctify them through your truth, the word of God alone must ever be the criteria for all things. God’s word is truth.” Therefore, as you begin to personalize His message in your life, your character will obviously change, what will do, where you will go—the Lord will never leave or forsake you.
Do you know that we have a covenant with God? As a responsible Christian, it is proper for God to be in covenant with you, and that is the covenant to direct us well. God is not happy to see His children misbehaving, not happy to observe them committing all manner of evils.
Today, through this message, He has remodeled you to retrace your steps and come back to fold, there is a particular direction God want you to follow, receiving that particular direction is the best for you in this 2026. And to follow that route, you must endeavor to hear His voice because that is what you need, as stated in Psalm 19 vs 10: “The word of God: More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.” Invariably, God’s word is a far greater good to man and, therefore, for more to be desired than any amount of worldly riches.
This message is tangible, the day God will open your spiritual eyes to see and imbibe the meaning of this message, you will surely regret and weep over your old self. That’s why I’m challenging you today to embrace the word of God and enjoy His divine direction. In Psalm 19 vs 11: “Moreover by them is your servant warned, and in keeping of them there is great reward.” But why is this special warning coming from God? What follows anybody that listens and obeys the word of God?
As we begin this study this year, the word Of God will continue to direct us, will show us the way forward, and those who will carefully follow the teachings and do them will equally have great reward both here on earth and in heaven.
The Word of God is spiritual, and you need it in your life to excel this year. Receiving direction to walk with God is the ultimate. Gideon for example is a good follower of God, he had discovered that God family abandoned God despite numerous assistance to them in the Wilderness during their journey to the Promise Land. While thinking of all these, Angel of God appeared and said, Oh, Gideon, the Mighty Man in battle.
What is the Message here? If you follow God with all your heart, listen, and obey Him all the time, He will surely solve your problems because He is the Source and solution of all issues.
The Angel of God ginger Gideon’s spirit to prepare for a task of saving Israelites from the hands of their enemies. He obeyed and went around the city, blowing trumpet of awareness, and 32,000 people were ready for war. God reduced the number to 300 to avoid them taking the glory. Written in Judges chapter 7 vs 5 and 7: “And the number of them who lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men, And the Lord said unto Gideon, by this number will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hands, and let all the other people go every man unto his place.”
In this 2026, if you want to be victorious like Gideon, you have to follow God’s divine direction, you must follow Holy Spirit direction.
If we are going to receive direction from God as the case of Gideon, we must encounter the Holy Spirit, so that we will be victorious. The Lord followed Gideon to the battle arena, and gave him victory. In Luke 24 vs 49, it says, “And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until you be endued with power from on high”. And the power is in Acts 1 vs 8, “But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you, and you shall be my witnesses unto the uttermost part of the earth”.
Now the big puzzle: Are you going to the church as a custodian of Holy Spirit, or you were told that Holy Spirit will come upon you? Yet deep down in your heart there is nothing like Holy Spirit? For us to be serious with God and walk with him, we must receive the Holy Spirit. The great challenge before you today is this: Have you heard the voice of God? Have you received his brand the Holy Spirit?
In Romans chapter 9 vs 8, “That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted for the seed”. Therefore, are you still in flesh or in the spirit? For if God’s spirit dwells in you, you are truly a Christian.
Three things remain your take home message: First, let the Holy Spirit continuously guide you. Second, we need to hear your voice. And finally, I want the word of God to saturate my life. Put together all these, you will obviously work according to his instructions and divine direction.
