2025 Omabala Day: Obidigbo Inaugurates Media, Publicity Committee

As part of efforts to revive the rich cultural heritage of omabala people currently facing extinction, arrangements are in top gear for the successful  staging of the maiden edition of  Omabala Day celebration

 The Chairman Omabala Union, Dr chike obidigbo disclosed this during the swearing-in and inauguration of the media and Publicity Sub Committee of the cultural fiesta.

 Some seasoned journalists and media practitioners from the  the six council areas that formed omabala union were inaugurated as members of the Publicity subcommittee.

The Omabala Day Celebration, which is a cultural festival will   hold on the 11th of oct 2025 at Otuocha Township Stadium by 12:00 noon. 

Dr obidigbo charged members of the media and Publicity SubCommittee to give the event the necessary Publicity, adding that the rich cultural heritage of the people of omabala must be showcased to the world,  while describing  culture  as the identity and the way of life the people.

He said  the event will serve as a rallying point and a veritable means of  bringing together people from the six council areas of omabala, namely, Anambra East and West, Oyi, Anyamelum, Dunukofia and Awka North.

Dr obidigbo a renowned philanthropist and industrialist called for unity of purpose among the people of omabala, adding that the media and Publicity subCommittee is key in the ongoing effort to unite omabala people. 

 According to him, the people of omabala are yet to fully harness the human and natural resources that abound in the area.

In his speech, the Chairman of the  Organising Committee of the 2025 Omabala Cultural Festival, Chief  Elochukwu  kwacham appealed to the committee members to ensure that  the activities of ndi omabala especially the forthcoming omabala day celebration are given  the required publicity  in the electronic, print and social media.

He emphasized that the Committee should leave no stone un turned in a bid to sensitize  the people on the need  to speak with one voice. 

 Chief kwacham said  ndi omabala should not be relegated to the background on issues concerning  them, especially the harnessing of the natural resources that abound in the area.

The cultural fiesta will among other things feature traditional dances and display by masquerades representing  communities as well as attracting important personalities from all parts of Anambra state.

It would be recalled that ndi omabala  constituted a Caretaker Committee headed by Dr Obidigbo to revive  the dwindling fortunes of the union and the new administration  under his watch popularly had created Committees, including  a seven points agenda as a way of giving the people of the area a sense of belonging and

 all  necessary measures  now in place  to take the union to the  next level.
