The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), during the inauguration of Ward Congresses has endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.

The endorsement was announced at a stakeholders’ meeting of the party held at its state secretariat in Awka, which ran late into the night.

Party leaders said the decision followed a call by a former senator representing Anambra North, Emma Obiajulu Anosike, urging members to rally behind the president.

In a statement after the meeting, the APC said a Tinubu re-election would help strengthen the national economy, promote party unity and support the rebuilding of its political structures ahead of the 2027 polls.

The meeting also served as a platform to finalise arrangements for the party’s internal congresses. Ward congresses began on Tuesday across Anambra’s 326 electoral wards, with council and state congresses scheduled to follow.

Addressing members, the state APC chairman, Basil Ejidike, said the party’s focus was on mobilising support across Anambra’s 21 local government areas. He said the APC aimed to significantly increase its vote share for President Tinubu in 2027.

Mr Ejidike added that cooperation with the state’s ruling party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, would be key to achieving that goal. He also noted that Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo was supportive of President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“Unity remains the foundation of any meaningful political progress,” Mr Ejidike told the meeting, calling on party members to work together across wards and local councils.

He said the party was committed to building strong grassroots structures to improve its performance in future elections.

Several party figures, including the APC’s candidate in the November 2025 Anambra governorship election, Nicholas Ukachukwu, and his running mate, Uche Ekwunife, described the gathering as the largest APC stakeholders’ meeting in the state since that election.

They said the meeting reflected a return of unity and stability within the Anambra APC.
