Assess Logistics, Voter Readiness, PVC Collection in readiness for 2025 Governorship Election

As part of preparations for the November 8, 2025 Governorship Election, a high-powered delegation from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Headquarters has arrived Anambra State
The four-member team, led by Prof. Rhoda Gumus, National Commissioner in charge of Election Planning and Monitoring, included Mr. Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC); Dr. Kenneth Ukeagu, supervising National Commissioner for Anambra State; and Dr. Baba Bila, Chairman of the Electoral Operations and Logistics Committee.
On arrival, the delegation was received by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu, alongside other senior officials at the INEC State Headquarters in Awka, where they reviewed the state’s level of preparedness and logistics arrangements for the upcoming poll.

The team later embarked on field visits to Dunukofia (Anambra Central) and Oyi (Anambra North) Local Government Areas, where they inspected the batching of non-sensitive election materials and the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) at registration centres in Ukpo and Nteje. They expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded and urged voters to remain patient, orderly, and committed to the electoral process.
According to INEC, the delegation will in the coming days hold engagements with members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), transport unions, and observe a mock accreditation exercise before rounding off its visit.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to conducting a peaceful, transparent, and credible governorship election in Anambra State.
