The Rotary Club International has visited Ado Girls’ Secondary School, Onitsha, to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child.
This year’s global theme, “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis,” inspired a meaningful engagement with the students.
The event featured an insightful address by the Onitsha Club President, Rtn. Joy Mbadugha, who spoke passionately about the importance of empowering the girl child to become confident, educated, and responsible leaders in society.
She encouraged the students to believe in their potentials and to take charge of positive change in their communities.
During her speech, the President also proposed the formation of Rotaract Club in the school, a suggestion that was warmly welcomed and approved by the Principal, Mrs Chinelo Okocha.
The students were introduced to Rotary International, its mission, and its various humanitarian initiatives that impact communities globally.
The Project Chair, Rtn. Kingsley Ndukwu, along with several Rotarians, Rtn Oby Arinze, Rtn Emeka Okolonji, and Rotaractors from Nwafor Orizu College of Education, participated in the outreach.
To conclude the visit, sanitary pads were distributed to the students as part of the club’s commitment to supporting girls’ health, dignity, and well-being.
The event was both educational and impactful, reflecting Rotary’s dedication to service and youth empowerment.
