The Anambra State Police Command on Friday, April 17, 2026 received the Secretary of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, on an official monitoring tour of the ongoing police recruitment screening exercise across the South-East zone.
The visit, formed part of the Commission’s statutory oversight to ensure that the recruitment process adheres strictly to established guidelines, with emphasis on transparency, fairness, and merit.
According to the spokesperson of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, during the tour, Nnamani assessed the screening procedures and interacted with key stakeholders, including officials of the Nigeria Police Force, members of the Police Service Commission team, representatives of the Federal Character Commission, and other relevant bodies involved in the recruitment exercise.
The Secretary stated that the Commission would continue to collaborate with the Anambra State Police Command to enhance public sensitization and encourage more qualified indigenes to enlist in the Force. He also commended the level of organisation and professionalism displayed by the Anambra State Recruitment Screening Team.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ikioye Orutugu, appreciated the visit and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to upholding the highest standards throughout the exercise.
He noted that all necessary measures had been put in place to ensure a credible, transparent, and hitch-free recruitment process, assuring applicants and the general public of fairness and strict adherence to merit.
The Command reiterated its assurance that the ongoing recruitment exercise remains transparent and merit-based, urging applicants to comply with all stipulated guidelines.
It further reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening the capacity and integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.
